The External Scientific Panel (ESP) is a non-governing entity comprising a multidisciplinary panel of experts who will assist the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in assessing, on a regular basis, the PRIMED Consortium’s:
- scientific and programmatic progress;
- datasets, analysis tools, and other resources for potential users;
- management of ethics concerns and participant protection practices; and
- ability to develop and evaluate methods to improve the use of polygenic risk scores to predict disease and health outcomes in diverse ancestry populations.
The ESP provides such feedback twice a year, and the Consortium responds to the feedback as described in the SOP on the Expectations and Timeline for the PRIMED Consortium’s responses to ESP Feedback.
